Note that if you don't use an Aero theme, you will not have the ability to see previews of running apps, and your system will operate about half the speed because your main CPU will be used (your graphics processor will no longer accelerator or process graphic elements). I've got dozens of windows 98 themes (Star Wars) and want to bring them over. I want to use my downloaded themes on my new machine. Themes folder. There is no such folder setup in XP. Most of them have.

The short method is to go to your XP computer and hit Windows Logo + R to open the Run box, and run 'media'. That will open the folder where all the sound files are. Copy those to a flash drive and take them to your new computer and copy them to a folder (the same Media folder isn't a bad idea, or maybe a new folder inside it called 'From XP', however you like).

Then the manual step: go through your sound settings and assign an sound file to every event you like and save the sound theme. If somewhere were sufficiently motivated, the above steps could be packaged into an easily reproducible form for easy sharing or re-use, but that's the manual steps at least.
